Off-site Portal embeds return from the canonical Stripe cancel URL through browser history because session storage is origin-scoped. A status-only Stripe checkout handle lets the embedding origin clear completed drafts, including asynchronous payments, without exposing the gift redemption token or weakening same-origin return URL validation. Portal and Core move together on the 2.72 release line; older Core versions fall back to clearing off-site drafts before checkout. Malformed or unavailable storage continues with an in-memory form.
